About

I’m an Edinburgh-based printmaker, illustrator and writer. In 2016, I graduated with distinction from Falmouth University’s MA in Illustration (Authorial Practice), on which I wrote and illustrated a book of haunting short stories. Since then, I’ve been continuing to develop my printmaking practice, using mainly monotype, etching and aquatint, drypoint and mezzotint. I also enjoy drawing with graphite, charcoal and soft pastels, and watercolour painting.

I have focused on printmaking since first taking a class at Morley College in 2010 – the infatuation was instant. I love printmaking because these techniques allow me to produce ambiguous, dreamlike images that often rely on texture and colour for impact. For me this is the most expressive way I know to do what I wish to do: to test the boundaries between representation and abstraction in order to evoke atmosphere and emotion. My work is about stories, ghosts, haunting and imagined landscapes.

In 2017 I moved to Edinburgh to take up an Artist in Residence position at Edinburgh College of Art, and I’m now a member of Edinburgh Printmakers regularly making and showing work in Scotland and beyond.

I specialise in writing and illustration for video games and interactive fiction. From 2010-2012, as a staff writer at Failbetter Games, I wrote content for Fallen London, The Silver Tree, The Night Circus, & Machine Cares. I’m also the illustrator of Below, a narrative take on a roguelike dungeon-crawl.

My professional writing includes film reviews, articles and interviews, mainly for The Quietus.

P.S. that’s not me in the picture
